The 2011 Mississippi River Flood

Updated on June 5, 2020 - Article by Mark Lawrence

On this day in May, 2011, news reports warn that the Mississippi River, stretching from New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico to the far northern U.S. states is at risk of an epic flood that will effect 4 million people.

What we likely see is another “birth pain” pointing to a coming apocalypse in the world, predicted by Jesus and other prophets in the Bible, as the Time of Wrath soon comes on to the world.

Mother Nature Or Act Of God?

This will likely be called a major flood and if God’s hand is on this, as I believe it likely is, it could defy early news reports and cause a lot more death and devastation to the land and cities and towns along it’s path than anyone today expects. Of course many people in media will probably call it an act of mother nature but we who have been watching the signs of the times (as Jesus repeatedly tells believers to do in the gospels) will know otherwise and that these are most likely acts of God pointing to a coming apocalypse. That is similar to what happened with the 2011 Japan earthquake that lead to the tsunami, and lead then the meltdown of nuclear power plants, killing thousands of Japanese, and sending hundreds of thousands on an evacuation out of the area.

Is A Catastrophic Flood Coming To States Along The Mississippi River?

We have published another article recently on flood survival, and there’s a great chance that some of the things talked about in this article could be assets for survival.ASSOCIATE PRESS (5/8/11) – More evacuations in Memphis; city waits on river

For example, if you live in a flood zone, it is a smart idea to have a boat on hand, tied to your property, as well as emergency supplies stored in an upper area of your home.

People impacted by the 2011 Mississippi River flood may look back with regret that they did not heed early news reports about a coming flood, and failed to stock up on emergency supplies, specifically a boat.

What if the flood isn’t that bad? Well, there’s a good chance that can happen also. My point with this article is that we had better start being prepared for natural disasters in growing magnitude, if in fact we’re in the end times as prophesied in the Bible.

stockpiling challenge

Being prepared for disaster before hand may be a wise move for most of the population.

Plenty of rope, life vests, and water proof storage containers could be essential to have on hand as emergency supplies for surviving a flood.

Even better though would be to consider an early evacuation. This would involve taking an assessment of the proximity of your town to the Mississippi River and then the location of your home in relation to the elevation of roads, and highways that provide access out of town.

If you live in a city with a lot of people — for example New Orleans — which could easily be impacted by flooding from the Mississippi River should the levees fail, then even if you were confident that you could take roads and highways out of the city you might run into a never-ending crawl of cars, as hundreds of thousands of people decide to evacuate on short notice.

Flooding And Evacuation Of Towns Along The Mississippi

In that case, many people fearing the rising flood waters of the Mississippi River might even abandon their cars, and start running / walking alongside the highway. With hundreds and even thousands of cars suddenly abandoned, this exodus of traffic isn’t going anywhere. So a person whose strategy is to survive a massive flooding of the Mississippi River in this fashion is going to want to have backpacks (for each member of their family) pre-packed with emergency food and water, as well as shelter (for example just a simple tarp) and the right shoes for walking long distances.Considering the panic that took place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it might be smart for people to also carry self-defense items, but to only use as a last resort.

We will have to wait and see.

Another Natural Disaster Strikes America

Are you alarmed by the increase in natural disasters, as well as man-made disasters? Are you noticing that the world of radical Islam in much of the Middle East is in a state of growing unrest?

Do you see the pride, and greed, sexual immorality, and hate that is so rampant in the world?

I and many Christians believe that the “end times” are beginning to take place, as warned about in the Bible, and specifically in the last chapter, the Book of Revelation.

Jesus promises to save his followers from a coming time of great sorrow and death when God finally begins unleashing his wrath on a growing scale on the massive evil in the world and the overall wickedness of the governments of man.

Put your faith in Jesus today, and repent from your sin to follow the commandments of God. The time for the present age of the world is growing short. Be saved from the wrath of God.

Could we be ten years from the end?

Or twenty years?

Or only two years?

The Bible leaves that a mystery, despite all the warnings you may have heard about a May 21, 2011 Judgment Day that have been reported by a Christian “cult” (by the way, any Christian cult is not actually a true Christian).

Disasters may be taking place at that time, such as a Mississippi River flood in 2011 that may prove to be the largest flood in U.S. history (as early reports are warning), but that is not likely to be “Judgment Day”. Jesus said “no man knows the day or the hour…”. (By the way, in the Bible “judgment day” is not actually used as a phrase. However, the “Day of the Lord” and signals not only the beginning of God’s wrath but also his coming for his people, who follow him in truth and in spirit, reflected in a life of love for God and Jesus Christ.

Get your heart right with the Lord today. Pick up your Bible, read it and believe what it says. Be filled with the Holy Spirit as you finally surrender your life to Jesus and receive the gift of eternal life and a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Why You Can Trust Us

Secrets of Survival has been around since 2002 (almost 20 years) and our survival knowledge is the real deal. We were writing and discussing survival and prepping before people even knew what the word “prepping” meant. We also preceded the trendiness of survival media nowadays… for example, we were arround before Bear Grylls filmed his first episode of Man vs Wild.

Our contributors and writers over the years have included survival experts of all stripes – including a Green Beret Special Forces Medic, a former Navy SEAL, a leading survival instructor who’s been featured on National Geographic and PBS. Every article is either written or reviewed by someone who is an expert in either survivalism, prepping, or homesteading (or all three) and our goal is to be as practical and educational as possible.

While some of our writers and contributors use pseudonyms in order to protect their privacy (never a bad idea in these times where out of control surveillance is a growing problem), you can trust that everybody who gets to write for us has been vetted for their knowledge and passion when it comes to survival.
